Our Third Anniversary! :)

So Three Years. Yikes! I can't believe its been three years since ben and I tied the knot. Feels like a week, feels like a decade. I'm just so glad I get to spend every day with someone I love so very much! I looked it up, and the third anniversary is the Leather Anniversary!
Supposedly, it speaks to the durability of our relationship. We made it past paper, cotton and now, at leather our relationship begins to become hardy and weathered. Romantic huh? So as Leather is the traditional gift, ben got.... Leather shoes! They are tres sexy.

Ben got me (finally) an actual wedding ring. Since we got back together I'd been using my opal birthstone ring as my wedding ring, and now... I have this sucker!
Pretty, no? (btw... its not a diamond, its cz. 1/10 the price, just as sparkly, and if I ever lose it I won't cry!) I love it and am so excited to have a little bling on my ring fing (ha ha i had to keep the rhyme going...)

Then today, ben and bekah brought flowers to me at work! I was so surprised. In stomps bekah in her boots and big coat (its snowing like a mother outside...) and brings me these gorgeous flowers. (Please ignore the messy desk around them!)
Friday night we're going out to dinner to celebrate. I wanted the Cheesecake Factory again. We had such a blast for my birthday... I know its not the most romantic fancy place, but I am TOTALLY excited to go there!!

Wow... three years! In that time Joe came out, Michelle dated, and got married, Tony got married... jeez. I feel so freaking old!

Mr. President

I'd like to take a moment from the family blog, and type a little thought of my own.

Today is one of those days, that when I'm old I'll be able to say I was there. My mother always talked about watching the moon landing, my Grandma about President Kennedy being assassinated. I had teachers who reminisced about wars starting and ending, police states and famous words.

When I was 15, two planes crashed into the World Trade Centers. Just after my 16th birthday we started a war that we are still in today. I remember the numb shock as I watched that happen, and I thought... someday this will be in history books. This tragedy will be documented and honored, and I will remember where I sat the day the towers fell.

Today, I'm finding myself feel similar feelings. Today, the world is changing. When Barak Obama came up with the slogan "Change" for his campaign, he didn't realize how that would rally people, or just how much change he was going to cause.

Tonight, as I watch the first black man in history be sworn in as President of my Country, I know I feel pride, joy and excitement for the years to come. I have great hope that this man can repair the divisive anger that this country has recently become so infected with. I have so much faith in this man I've never met.

This day, history's book is starting a new chapter.

We got snowed in. And loved it!

Let the Madness of Xmas Commense!

I was so excited that bekah really went for Christmas this year. Last year was her first Christmas (by one day) this year she's two and she loved it! (well, 23 months and 30 days...)

Bekah discovering the puppy Ben's parents got her (by proxy) Thanks guys! She totally loved this puppy, and we'd wanted to buy it for her for a while. It was her favorite present under the tree! Everything else was pretty much chopped liver...
I got ben (among many other things, spoiled boy...) a comfy squishy robe to wear. Our house stays a little chilly, and with sharing a bathroom, its nice to have one of these to lounge in. He loved it!I decided to give Bekah my old American Girl Baby doll. She wasn't too into it this day (see puppy story above) but has come back to play with her since. I was excited to pass this down. I also have an American Girl Josefina doll she'll get when she's older. I can't wait!!
Bekah found an orange in the toe of her stocking. She kept calling it an apple and trying to eat it.
She's figuring out the whole unwrapping thing... slowly :)
I asked her what an elephant says. This is the face I got.

Then off to my mom's house for traditional Christmas Morning Breakfast, and presents. It was so much fun hanging out! My Grandma and Grandpa stopped by which is nice. They haven't seen Bekah in a long time.

Bekah's Great-Grandmother made Bekah the most beautiful dolly in the whole world for her birthday. Bekah was a little over-stimulated then, but she's slept with her almost every night since. She's so pretty!!

Bekah got a sweet Quiet Book. She loves reading.
Grammy got her the most adorable little tea set in a picnic basket. Bekah kept pretending to drink from the spout of the teapot. It was too funny.
All in all, a very lovely christmas! We had a wonderful time, and hope ya'll did too!

Twas the Night before Christmas...

And all through our crazy house, every creature was stirring, in the whole of the house.

The table was set with a feast meant for seven, and we ate and we ate until nearly eleven!
And Bekah in her pigtails...And Brighton in his too (for everything must be equal when you are two!)Had just settled down to build gingerbread houses (two!)The roofs were placed on the houses with care, in hopes that the wouldn't tumble, crack or tear.When suddenly the children realized, that the frosting was delicious! and the decorations snack sized!With Snow made of icing the roof looked very pasty...
But the children soon discovered they were oh-so tasty!
With help from the dad's, while the momma's cleaned, the houses were built, then eaten with great speed.

The children were dressed in their matching duds, and those McLane boys were a couple of studs!
The children were snuggled all warm in our laps, while we tried a rendition of "Twas the Night before Christmas" but it was a laugh! We'd forgotten the words, the details and rhymes, so we made it all up and fininished just in time.
We told them, "To bed! For Santa is nigh!" And then (with coffee in hand) said Merry Christmas to all, and to all a... Naked Baby!!"

Two Years Ago

Friday is Bekah's second birthday. I won't be online that day, so I thought I'd put a little post up today, my baby girl.

This picture was bekah at 12 weeks. The Ultrasound Tech was impressed that she was so perfectly visible. I'd been having cramps all morning so I went in just in case. They couldn't find a heartbeat (she was still too small) so they looked for her. She gave this perfect little side shot, and the tech asked if I wanted a print. What I couldn't believe is she already had her dad's square forehead (still does).

This is one of the only pictures of me pregnant. I wasn't into documenting me getting fatter than I've ever been. Now it makes me sad. If there is a next time I'm taking pics weekly! lol. This is at my Shower, I was about 7-8 months along, and its from behind but I'm pretty round.

And now after she was born. My little angel. I didn't want to be away from her. She was 8lbs exactly, and nearly 20 inches long. Black hair, dark dark eyes and the prettiest mouth I'd ever seen on a baby girl.


I love you so much little one. The days slip through my fingers, and I hope I can be the momma you need little one.
